Hi Guys!

I have an experience of playing acoustic guitar(Fender FA100) for over two years. Now, I'm looking for an Electric guitar and the most common and dominant answer is FENDER STRAT everywhere on internet. So, I need some suggestion on which model to buy and why? Should I get a fixed bridge or not? All single coil pickups or HSS? I'm kinda confused.

Artists I play:
1.John Mayer
2.Green Day
3.Linkin Park
4.Guns and Roses
5.Enrique Iglesias etc

So, suggest accordingly!

Thanx :)

If you want to play Green day, Linkin Park, and Guns n' Roses (the ones you mentioned and I am thoroughly familiar with), you will definitely, absolutely need a humbucker in the bridge. So, HSS, for sure. A fixed bridge will be fine for covering those bands!

really a fixed or non fixed shouldn't matter, it's better to have something and not need it, rather than need it and not have it.
you can have a trem, but have all the springs on it, so it only moves when you use the trem arm, i never use my trem on mine, but it's there if i want to play with it.
if want to get crazy with a trem, i'd dig out my old Kramer with the floyd.

@RCB-CS-USA: Thanks man! I'll go with Humbucker then! But I have another option too in mind, the Ibanez RG370DX. That contains HSH pickups. So, with which one should I go? Which of the two is better? Strat or Ibanez?

@Jimmikatt: I too was thinking the same dude! Thanks anyways. I'll choose movable tremolo :) But I've read somewhere on net that it creates a lot of problem to keep the guitar in tune! Is it true? I don't wanna tune it everyday!!

I haven't played the 370, so I can't say! However, I can say I've experienced poor quality control issues with a few sub $600.00 Ibanez guitars.

In another thread, Muff Diver highly recommends the Ibanez S770PB for tuning stability and neck style. So, for me, it would be a toss up between a MIM Strat w/ a Floyd Rose, a used USA Strat w/ FR, or a used S770PB, whichever one's the lightest and has the best tone and feel would be my pick.

Me, I use a Fender for Fender tones, a Gibson for fixed bridge humbucker tones, and a Brawley shred stick w/ a FR for shreddin'!

OK, now (after that Ibanez-comment) we know something about your price range (somewhere below 500$?), and maybe can give something to ponder on.

First of all, all those players/bands you mentioned, made their reputation on notably non-Fender sounds - so a Strat (with any pickup combination) may not be perfect for you. Anyway, your hands are used to the acoustic, so play several guitars before you decide - some necks will feel awkward, some just right.

Trem or not is no factor to me; a trem can be decked or blocked if you don't need it just now.

And (leaving the player's part totally out on purpose), the amp and effect pedals play a large part in how your playing sounds - reserve money to those, too.

Think outside the box: Squier's John5 or Joe Trohman Telecasters fall in the price range, and some Custom/Deluxe Teles, too. And I've heard them soaring in many sounds resembling your idols... You might even try a J.Mascis Jazzmaster with its P90-like pickups... Not to mention the countless second hand modified Strats looking for home on the shiny shores of ebay...
