Picked up a couple of new ones today but this one ranks pretty high on the cool list. Fender Squier Stratocaster MIJ 85 E model, came with a Fender HSC too!

I just got done running it through it's paces plugged in and through a tube amp it's sounds very warm and clear, very nice! Through my Fender Mini Mustang it sounds almost as warm and very crisp and clean. That Mini Mustang was a heck of a score, so was this Squire!

BrittB...The Squiers of this vintage are good guitars. Hardware is very good and once you replace the pickups and pots, you got a great guitar! Nice color and it looks like someone already replaced the pickups!

I had a black one with a maple neck and once I put some 57/62 Vintage Reissue Fender Pickups in it and changed the pots to full size CTS's it was my #1 for a couple years!

Nice Score!

T2

It has new pots, cap, pickups and a fret job. I'm thinking I may want to do a Switchcraft output jack and some cloth wiring at some point in the future but it plays awesome so I'm going to not mess with it for now. Besides, it has been set up and has new strings, might as well enjoy someone's great effort, they did a good job! It came with the old parts and the receipt listing the parts replaced. This guitar is a keeper!

Always keep at least 3 feet of clearance if you don't actually want to spend any money!

Really nice guitar, BrittB, and nice find! Id've bought it and ran, as well.

Wear ear protection so you can't hear them calling to you  . They're like Circe to Ulysses. Irresistable.

Yes but It's too nice to be original. I don't think it was an option in 85 but I could be wrong. It is the original body though but I think it was refinished even though it looks like a factory job.

Nice guitar!

Is it the norm for these to have a 50s screw hole pattern on the PG with a 60s style neck? Could it be the body from one guitar and the neck from another?

Strange. At the very least it is a 3-ply pickguard.

Here's the scoop! It was originally black but really rough and repainted using automotive type poly. The pickguard is also new as the old single ply looked funky. The 3 ply makes it pop! If I wanted to, I could buy a single ply 8 hole and replace it but it looks good like it is. I say,"Rock on!".
