First of all thank you for having a look at my thread. Although I am almost certain the guitar is not a genuine 1959 fender I thought I would just put it to the experts to have a quick look. I only paid £59.99 so wont be to disappointed.
It does not have a serial number anywhere. Thanks again for your time.

Is this to say that the seller had advertised the guitar as a genuine 1959 stratocaster with an asking price of £60? Sounds like he admitted defeat before he even started

The good news is the guitar will make a decent beater for the money you have in it.

Hi dan1972 and welcome to the forum!

I am certainly NOT an expert but I would like to play one on the Internet so I'll take a go at identifying your "... genuine 1959 stratocaster with an asking price of £60". :)

The absence of a serial number is a dead give away. It should be on the neck plate. Then there is the matter of the two string trees. I think there should only be one. The tuners are way ahead of 1959 and the saddles do not look like they're from that period. ... That's all from a pretend expert. Hopefully a real one will be along soon to give you something more substantial and perhaps identify its origin.

For £60 you can't go wrong. How does the guitar play?

Cheers!
BM

Thanks for the replies. We purchased the guitar of an elderly chap who sold us three guitars the other two pictured below. He never claimed the Stratocaster was a real fender and was paid a slightly low price of £59 with a resell price of £89.99 in store. He has since been back to the store with a 12-string acoustic and a Korg A5 pedal. Unfortunately none of the staff can play, as guitars are not something we buy very often but it looks awful and weighs a ton. I just wanted to be 100% sure it wasn’t a £2000 guitar being sold for 90 quid and now i am. If i ever get anything else interesting ill be sure to post a few pictures. Thanks again.

+1...Everything you said is correct about this guitar. The neck is not from 59 either, it would have clay dots, not white ones. They would be fairly dark tan in color. The body does not look to be from that time either as it looks like a three piece body, and I think they were still using two piece bodies during this era. Additionally, the body cuts are not the correct size. And lastly, the pickups are definetly not from 59 as they are flush and they would be of staggered height if from 59. This guitar does look nice though and if it plays great, you got a good deal for the money spent! Enjoy it for what it's worth a nice partscaster.

FWIW

Also, it almost looks like there is a repair at the heel of the neck of some sort. Between that and the paint stripped body and MIA serial numbers, it's a rough example of a Strat, dare I say, Partscaster? I'd give you $100 for it.
