Of course they did. I have seen dozens of these over the years. It appears to be all original. Pics are not the greatest in detail, but it looks legit.

The propensity for "natural" finishes followed the then-burgeoning ecology movement......

It was considered to be more eco-friendly to kill a tree and leave the grain showing than to murder it then conceal the "corpse" with some silly colored lacquer.

hahaha although some paint jobs are classic oly white, torino red i do love them natural strats!

Fender had switched back to ash bodies by then and some of it was quite exquisitely-figured. Hence the popularity of the clear finishes.
