Here is some thing I haven't seen discussed here yet...
As far as i know everyone has a loose output connection on their strat
Just wiggle the cord and you'll get popping. Every Strat I ever touched has this.
How come it's only that style or mounting method of output jack that does that?
Every one that makes a 1/2 way decent axe uses Switchcraft or other quality jacks (meaning to say they are mostly the same) My other axes don't have this malady yet have the same jack?
I have Planet Waves cords and that ends the problem however I shouldn't have to buy a special (expensive) cord to make the Strat work just like a tele or other non-strat type output jack equipped axe.
Personally I like the way the Strat output jack is mounted; looks way better than that jack and cord sticking straight up outta my Firebird and no; I won't buy a right angle plug for it as I'm wireless I need one cord for the wireless to work on all my axes.
I see a modification in the works; a Strat output jack on my Firebird would look so cool! It's a antique sunburst Epi with gold hardware....

Hello Dna9656,

My 10 yr old Am Deluxe has a bit of a
noisy jack, so I wrapped the plug about
3/4 of way around with a pice of paper,
Plugged it in no more noise. I scissor up
a new paper shim each time plug in.
Maybe this'll help.

Cheers.

Very inexpensive, to use a swtchcraft jack. You can find them any where online. End of problem.

I haven't checked but I'm sure the OEM (Fender) puts a Switchcraft jack in there. I have owned 3- 4 Strats and all of them had this noise; have they made a change I am unaware of? If they don't we need to have a talk with Fender....I don't think we want any scrimping on our ladies!
I have the fix; Planet Waves 1/4" phone jacks with those little banana springs on the handle end of the shaft locks the plug in nicely; my point here is no one brings it up....All the Strats I ever played did this...Even my EC.
I found the Planet Waves jacks I needed on E-bay as the big guitar store didn't have them on the wall for months and when I asked about them. the youngster looked at me like a dog looks at a new bone...of course when I was there yesterday; there hung one of the styles I had on the way!!! I got a straight and a angled plug that they call "The Circuit Breaker" from E-Bay. With shipping I had saved just about 20 cents.
I am going to put one on my wireless and the other I am going to use on the head out on my pedal string. I have found that if I turn off the transmitter before unplugging the guitar I can avoid the popping noise that sounds so terrible and I belive (and have read) is certainly not good on a tube amp.
Any thoughts, stories, ideas?
