Hi all, I was hoping someone with deep Fender knowledge could help me out. In 1995, I bought a new Stratocaster which I still love to this day. A friend at the time helped me pick it out. (I knew/know next to nothing about guitars)

I was wondering about some of the details of the guitar. Like, what sort of pick-ups do I have? Are they good? Are there any other special details about this guitar that I should be aware of? (It was made in U.S.A. and I have the serial number.)

How does my model rate in the Fender Strat family? Also, what does having your guitar "set-up" mean? Should I consider having it done?

I'm trying to learn a little more about my guitar so I appreciate if anyone takes the time to answer.

Thanks

Adam

Need to at least see it mate.

If you email Customer Relations, they could give you a specific model and hardware list based on the serial number.
Only one man on the Fender Forums can do that magic though. Mr Rob Schwarz. And I think he's either busy or on holiday. He may pop by but I wouldn't hold my breathe over the holiday period.

That Standard American Fender model lasted for 12 years. The longest model run Fender has ever had, so it seems as if it's pretty good. I have a 91 Model of that guitar.

The whole guitar is very good. Don't let anyone ever tell you it's not a good player. The Pickups are Standard Alnico 5 pickups. I really like the tone of these. You may have the Delta Tone Pickup System on your model. This includes a no-load tone pot on the neck pickup.

Set-up means to have it in perfect playing condition. This is usually performed by a professional guitar technician or Luthier.

I have a 1995 American Standard, and it is my favorite guitar , I have 3 US Strat. But pick ups are ok but I replace them by a set of JSMoore pickups ; Wow , what a sound now.

Adam - since most everyone at Fender's likely off until after New Year's Day you could post up some photos of you Strat and we'll take a shot at figuring out which one you have. While I don't think Fender had 62 different Strat models under the "Fender" brand in 1995 (like there is today) if I'm remembering correctly there were at least 30 to 40 models at that time.

Besides, we always like to look at photos of Fenders around here. :D
