hi, I'm a Gibson guy but I recently purchased a Strat. I have forgotten any info that I might have known about Strat tones so I thought i would ask for help here. I purchased some SCN's to install but I need to know a few things before I install.
my amp is a Lee Jackson modded JCM800 2204 head. I use a lot of pedals (my fav is the Mojo Vibe)
I am looking for a Trower/Marino/Hendrick (Machine Gun) type tone.
what is the difference in tone between a 250K pot and a 500K pot and what would you recommend?
Is the "Grease Bucket" circuit just a renamed treble bleed set up? if so what parts would I need and where can I get a diagram on how to make one?
what are "no load" Fender pots?
What value/brand of capacitor would you recommend for the tone I am looking for? i have read that a combination of a Orange Drop .022uf @ 100v and Orange Drop .047uf @ 100v are nice caps to use...
Is there a way to make your own S1 system? if so what parts would I need?
Sorry for all the questions but I wasn't sure where else I could ask
Thank You in Advance

Hello Shwing,

Sorry but your question is out of my
area of expertise, but welcome to the

Cheers.

I'm not quite as hardcore as you appear to be, but a little Googling uncovered this. Hope it helps you a little.

I've recently been looking into this (pot wise) and as I understand it the 500k pot cuts out more of the high frequencies thus giving a darker tone. 250 is the recommended pot for single coils.

No load pots let all the signal through when they're at 10 without any colorization of the tone. There is no resistance when they are full open. You are getting the pure tone of the pup.

Can't help you with the cap questions.
