Hi everyone. I just found this site yesterday after purchasing a new MIM Strat and being excited to learn all I could about it.

Pics to follow (once I learn how to do it) but a written description will have to do for now: arctic while with maple fretboard.

I've only been playing for two years and my only other electric is an Epi LP Classic. I never really wanted a Strat as most of my guitar heros played an LP. I've always loved that humbucker sound. That is until this past weekend when I visited GC and saw this guitar sitting there (I swear it winked at me). It had a strap already attached and when I picked it up, wrapped the strap around my shoulder and plugged her in, it was love at first sight. I never really realized how uncomfortable my LP was until I strapped this one up. The Strat is just so much more comfortable to stand up and play with due to its weight and design, and it's also very easy to play. It also seems to have been well setup at the factory, much better in fact than my Epi was when I first got her.

The long and short of it is I'm very excited to have added this guitar to my modest collection. In fact, I got in a lot of practice last night because I couldn't put her down. If nothing else this purchase should cause my practice time to increase. :D

I look forward to learning a lot about my new Strat from everyone on this forum.

Welcome! And congrats on the strat. You're gonna love it. Those MIM Fenders are great guitars. And the price is right.

It sounds like your Epi has been relegated to backup status. No problem there. Now go practice.

Thanks for the replies. Tonight upon arriving home from work I stuck in the Clapton Crossroads DVD, strapped up the new Strat and TRIED playing along with some of the great blues and rock guitarists of all time. Now I just gotta learn the blues and minor pentatonic scales. So much to learn!

I am quickly becoming a convert. On top of being the most comfortable guitar I've ever played, it also produces some amazing sounds. I really like the combination of the neck and middle pup and also the bridge pup by itself. Any good ideas on good pup selection for some blues?
