I'm trying to validate a 1991 USA Strat I want to purchase. The seller has offered to remove the neck and show pictures of the pocket and back of neck. Can anyone advise what I should be looking for with the markings on the neck pocket & back of neck?

Thank you!

The neck is date coded for may 1992. From what I've seen with serial numbers, this seems consistent (56000's). Here is another pic of the body's neck pocket. Does the square hole into the top of the body look familiar to anyone???

Okay - from this round of photos the neck is in fact from an American Standard. The body is not - it does not have the micro-tilt feature that should be found on an American Standard body. I'll let someone who is more familiar with aftermarket bodies weigh in on where the body might have come from.

Dunno what that body is, the pictures are far too small. The neck pocket doesn't look Fender. Neither does the truss rod access cut out.
It looks to me like the body is multiple layer. Darker wood on top of lighter wood.

If the seller has tried to sell that as Fender, walk away because they are being dishonest. What colour is the guitar?

Guitar is a tobacco burst color with white pick guard. I was actually lucky that the seller was honest and helped him identify it was not 100% USA strat. He bought it used at a major guitar store about 3 years ago and will be returning it. These fakes are everywhere...
