I'm getting a 2012 strat american standard, most likely the red one and I would like some opinions on pickguard colors. I'm not to big of a fan of the standard white one it comes with. I was thinking of getting a blue one, but my dad said that it would look weird. What do you think?

I have a MIM Strat midnight wine with the white pick guard and a Squire cherry burst that i'd like to trade for a hollowbody, except i love the look of the cherryburst. I also like the Splattercasters and the spalted wood guitars, the uglier the better..... Long story short, go with what YOU like. It doesn't matter what anyone else thinks.

I've got a red strat too. I was thinking of a Gold one, those look pretty cool with Red.

Red with a black pickguard looks pretty good to me.

Go hear and you can play around with some different body/pickguard combos...

No problem. Be sure to post some pictures of your guitar when you get it!

+1 to that

One of mine is candy apple red, maple neck, black pickguard, PUP covers and dials. I love it, my best mate hates it. But then, he plays one of these:

What the heck is that? A Pearl Harbor commemorative?

There's no accounting for taste...

Yeah, the fender guitar-builder link will give you a few options. But check out warmoth go to custom body builder. You'll go through a couple of pages of borning specs for your "custom guitar" . But then it will ask you your color, pickguard color, type of pickups-thier color(I think). And they have a ton of color options (pickgards too ) including trademark fender colors, like torino, candy apple.....whatever color yours is. And you get to see what it'd look like. I've spent many a hours doing this. Probably too many. :|

I knew warmoth but I never knew about the guitar builder. It was exactly what I was looking for, thanks!
