Though the regular artist EJs lack off a backplate, the Custom Shop versions are fitted with.

One wonders ...'why so'?.

I never knew there was a CS of the EJ, I saw one on here that someone bought and was bitching because someone had put holes in it and a back plate on....mmmm he may just have a Custom Shop and not know it.....

What else is different about the reg EJ and CS???
They are both Nitro, mine has hand signed pups, quarter sawn neck and a very CS build as far a quality goes....

From a build standpoint, the differences between a CS and production line guitar are understood. As for the subtle fine points here, suppose you consolidate all of this into a post on the Custom Shop Forum. Maybe we can all be enlightened.

Only the Teambuilt EJ Strats came with the backplate.

The Masterbuilts lack off that feature as specified by the artist.
