Yes.....the Wilkinson 2-point vibrato is a direct retrofit for the American Standard/Deluxe.

The Wilkinson-equipped Strat Plus I have on a stand about three feet away says 'Yep, it fits fine!'

they have metric and standard sizes, be sure you buy the right one.

^^ Definitely this! ^^

There's not just one Wilky trem, so make sure you buy the right one for the purpose. But when you do, it will just pop straight on.

(I'm assuming the OP has a US two post trem of course - not sure if the various other Fender two post systems had differing measurements and if Wilkinson offer a suitable match)

Actually it's a two post "Floyd Rose" like what you see on a 90's era Strat Ultra.

Post spacing for those is the same as the US standard two post unit, so should have no problems dropping a suitable Wilkinson in there.

The Wilkinson trem will NOT fit my Strat. The stud spacing on my Strat is 2.25in. It is a Floyd Rose trem which uses a slightly wider spacing than Wilkinson or Fender two point trem.

The Wilkinson looks like it is "flexible" the way it is constructed but I'm not spending a dime until I talk to a tech.

Cheers,

Just measured the Strat Plus I have sat here (which originally had a US two point trem, now has a Wilkinson) - 2.25" from centre of post to centre of post. I don't see the problem.

The Floyd Rose double-locking trem (not to be confused with the Fender-Floyd Rose unit which is a direct fit replacement for the American Standard) uses a wider spacing and would require modification to for a Wilkinson or American Standard trem to fit.

If the spacing of the studs is anywhere even remotely near 2.25" as he measured, it's not a 'proper' Floyd, which are a hair's breadth less than 3" spacing. It'll be the Fender locking or similar version, which fits on exactly the same spaced posts as the other US two post systems, so the VS100 is a drop in replacement.

Here's a photo off of xhefri's website that shows the type of tremolo I'm talking about. It is a Floyd Rose. Can't say whether it's "proper" or not.

You can save the image and load it into your favorite image viewer and rotate it 180 degrees and read "Floyd Rose" inscribed on the bridge.

This may have been a Fender exclusive design because I can't find it anywhere.

Yep, that's the one I was thinking of - exactly the same post spacing as the US standard, so the VS100 Wilky will definitely pop right on.

By 'proper', I meant the clichéd classic huge type with big fine tuners, as seen on numerous luridly coloured superstrats over the years, as that's the one which pops into most people's heads whenever they hear 'Floyd Rose'. Not my favourites, even though I own a couple.

That Fender/Floyd one is actually closer to the first designs of Mr Rose than any other - Really nice trem, so unless it's giving you big problems, I'd keep it, personally. :)

Hi mhowell: just out of curiosity, why do you want to replace your Fender/Floyd trem? Nuttin' wrong with that unit, far as I'm aware. I'm a big fan of Wilkinson's upmarket bridges, but I don't see the point of replacement unless there's some sort of problem. Maybe there is?

Anyway. Vulpinity has covered it thoroughly. So just to add superfluous detail, Wilkinson two-point bridges are built to fit a pivot post spacing of 56.5 mm from centre to centre of the studs. I know they look look like there's some play in that measurement because the treble side position appears not to be fixed, but if you put the bridge on studs that are different by more than a mil or so the strings won't align correctly with the neck.

So just do the metric measurement to be sure before paying out for that bridge.

Good luck - C
