Hello all ,
could i trouble someone with a wealth of knowledge of correct spec finish for a 88 Clapton signature Stratocaster (serial #SE 8005##)? Someone tried a poor attempt at making a "Blackie" on this. so its a given that with the original finish compromised, this guitars value is minimized to nearly half!? But with that said , i am a cabinetmaker by trade and finishing is a cake walk. I just want to make it correct to the original and maybe recoup the value to close to it original $ as much as i can.

thanks and regards

As for colour, I can only presume the guitar was originally black???
It would be worth checking in hard to strip areas for the original colour. (control cavity, jig holes)
The neck tints on Clapton Strats have always been pale. If the neck needs refinishing.

Clapton Strats have only ever been urethane paint finished.

Thats all I got for ya mate. For the exact specific colour and paint code. You could email Customer Relations. Or hopefully the Jedi Rob Schwarz will chime in.

thanks for your input. I do prefer rosewood fret boards but the neck on this is immaculate.. little if any fret wear and for a 24 year old guitar it never had a refret.

Give the serial number to Fender and see if they have the proper specs for you.

Look up on the top of the screen at Support, go to Contact us, and email the customer support email address they provide... It may take a few days, but they'll help you out.
