Hoping for ID/value help... Guitar has a classic sunburst finish, some custom pickups and possibly other aftermarket tweaks (string holder, nut? not sure, please tell me!)

Serial # on headstock: E332137, made in USA. I suspect this dates it circa 84-85 based on what I've seen online, but divert to the community's expertise.

photos -- apologies in advance for the blurry cellphone shots:

Was originally bought secondhand from a local East coast music store in the early-to-mid 90s. Could maybe use a cleanup, but want to know what I'm dealing with first.

Can anyone give me a definite ID on the year, model, what's been modified, and idea of value?

Thanks so much!

It started life as a 1983 or 1984 Standard Stratocaster - the tail end of the CBS era and those were only made those two years right before CBS shut the plant down and sold the company. It would have originally had 3 single coils and a Fender FreeFlyte tremolo. You would have to take the neck off and check for dates to see if its a 1983 or a 1984.

This one has a lot of mods - the Fender tremolo has been replaced with a Kahler trem; the string lock up on the headstock is also a Kahler. The middle and bridge pickups have definitely been replaced with a single coil-sized blade humbucker in the middel and a full sized humbucker in the bridge. From the photos it's impossible to tell if the neck pickup has been replaced. The easiest way to tell without taking it apart is to see if the neck single coil has flat polepieces or staggered-height polepieces - the stock pickups had flat polepieces so if these are staggered then it's definitely been replaced. If the polepieces are flat then you would have to take the pickguard off to see if there are any markings on the neck pickup that would tell you if it was stock or a replacement.

What's it worth? I agree with Stratele52 - not more than $700 or so with those mods. While these were never that popular, there are those who really love them and would pay more for an unmodded one.
