Hello,

I currently own a Standard MIM Strat and just ordered a Classic Player '60s. My MIM Std strat specs indicate the body cavities are shielded, but I didn't see anything about the CP being shielded. Is this true that there is no shielding in this model and am I probably going to have to do some shielding to keep the noise down?

Also, the strings supplied with the CP are Super 250R with ball ends instead of the bullet ends included with the MIM Std. I thought the bullets normally work better on the tremolo, so is there a reason they use these? Can I still use the bullet strings with the CP or is there a reason to stick with the supplied string type?

OK, one more :) I've had good success with the MIM Std tuning machines, staying in tune very well. Any comments on the Vintage-style machines' included with the CP performance?

I probably should have asked these questions before I ordered, but you know how it is when GAS strikes, lol. Thanks in advance for your help.

Russ

Hi Russ, welcome to the Forum.

No reason you can't use Bullets with that guitar if you want.

There's also no reason you can't get excellent tuning stability from vintage style tuners, provided you know how to string them up properly, which I'm sure you do.

As to the shielding, one of the CP owners here will have to speak to that. Adding your own shielding has always seemed more trouble than it's worth to me, but others will have different views. Each to their own.

Enjoy that nice new Strat!

Cheers - C

I had a Classic Players 60's Strat. Very fine guitar. I didn't care for the pickups, but it was great guitar regardless. I never had a tuning issue. The pickups were really mellow, hard to get any dirt out of them. Plus the middle is not reverse wound so there is no hum cancelling to be found on the guitar. 12" radius is really easy to bend strings, but it does make the neck feel a lot thinner. I actually preferred my Classic Series 50's over the Classic Player 60's, even with the maple neck and 7.25" radius....

No Shielding, but Abigail Ybrarra Approved!!!!

This sounded and felt much better though (even though it was beat up!)
