I have been looking for one for a looooong time. Does anyone have one for sale? And if not, would the custom shop build one for me to those old specs?

I had a chance to buy one back in the 90's and I blew it.

The CS did a signature model with Lace Sensors for Jeff in the early 1990s. It was finished in Mystic Black. I've had the chance to find this ultra-rare Mystic Black JB Strat while drooling around the Internet many years ago.

Mystic Black was not available on the regular Artist series version. The only finishes offered that period were Vintage White, Seafoam Green and Midnight Purple.

Don't expect for a CS JB built to the older specs. Fender doesn't use Lace Sensor pickups anymore.

I would just order a CS Strat and make sure they use the same specs.

"Flea"bay is a good source as is Guitar Center's Used Gear section. That's how I find most of my stuff!

So, the first year of the JB Strat was an HSS? That's what the one ebay link shows. I didn't know that.

I thought all the Lace equipped JB's were HSS?

Actually, I seem to recall they were really SSSS, as they had two normal singles put in the space of a humbucker then wired in series. Might be wrong, it's been a while since I've played one!

I still regret not buying one years ago, that humungous neck is an absolute delight to wrap your hand around. However, playing a JB did turn me on to the Plus series, which I'll forever be grateful for!

The Lace-equipped JBs were all HSS-equipped.

The Dually Sensor is effectively two single Sensors placed together side-by-side in a humbucker configuration.

The Plus series came into the scene when Fender approached Jeff to discuss a plan for a signature model. El Becko initially rejected the idea but he changed his mind in 1991 when he opted for a signature guitar based on that series.
