Hi,

I bought a 2005 Yngwie Malmsteen Stratocaster (purchased brand new from the local authorized dealer) that i never played very much. A few days ago I took it to my guitar tech so that he can set it up.

Heres the thing, while trying to do the adjustments to the neck we noticed that the neck was prepared and had the necessary openings but the body (neck joint) had no holes behind the metal back plate.

Is that normal? Is the truss rod only to be adjusted with an allen key just above the nut?

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

hi , the truss rod only gets adjusted at the head or sometimes on the bottom of the neck , the hole on the neckplate is for neck tilt adjustment and is nothing to do with the truss rod , hth , cheers
Alan

Yep, only the nut on the headstock of the guitar is used for truss rod adjustments on one of those.

(More importantly, if your guitar tech wasn't aware of this, I'd probably rescue that guitar as fast as you can and find someone who has actually seen a Strat before to set it up. )

Quite possible that I heard him incorrectly, he could have meant tilt adjustment.

So the point now is...should this guitar model not have any tilt adjustment?
