Hey, gents. Newbie here, with some questions. Being a longtime Rush fan, and due to a thread on another Rush forum, I've decided to do a replica of Alex's Hentor Sportscaster. I acquired the 'donor' today. I found a mint 2006 Standard Stratocaster (MIM) in Olympic white on craigs' list for $200. I already had a MIM Strat, but it's such a good player, I wanted to leave it 'as is' and start fresh with a new base guitar. I was very happy to discover when I met the seller that this one has a very slim neck, just as I like them. I brought it home, and it plays extremely well. I have a local guy that will be doing all the work. Obviously, it needs routed for a humbucker in the bridge, and most likely some routing work for the Floyd Rose.

On to my main question. I've never really gotten in to the 'technicalities' of the guitar, such as neck radius, ect...

I'm most likely going to go with a Schaller Floyd Rose, as it looks closest to what the Sporstcaster had on it after it was switched to a 'fine tuner'. I see that they are offered in different neck radius models. Does anyone know what the neck radius on a 2006 MIM Standard is?

You'll have more of a game sourcing a locking nut to fit a Strat and allow you room to access the truss adjuster at the headstock.

As for the Mex Strat question. You'll likely not need to route the bridge pickup cavity for a humbucker.
