I currently have a Squier Strat and I'm thinking about buying the Lace blue/red/silver pickups ($139), but I have the doubt that if it will be better just buy an mexican or american Stratocaster. The question is: will buying those pickups will really be more useful than for a few more bucks buying another guitar?

Thanks.

That really depends on you :) Do you enjoy the guitar you have now and will you be keeping it if you put in new pickups or will you eventually get rid of it for a MIM or MIA? Do you want to spend the extra money to get a new guitar? Most of all what feels right to you? Even though I don't buy Mexican Fender guitars they are really good and reliable :) I buy American to let them increase in value over the years. There are duds and gems in both MIA and MIM you just have to play all sorts of different guitars until you get a feel for what you want. Obviously that's if you want a new guitar.

Thanks for the reply,

I really like my guitar, I'm just looking for the best sound. I don't know if a Squier with the Lace pickups or maybe the Fender 69' pickups will sound better than a Stratocaster in a fabric state. I don't really feel the need of buying another guitar :)

Well that depends on who you talk to lol Some people feel the wood and metal of the guitar effect the sound and some people feel it's all electronics that effect the sound. I personally would go with a MIM guitar they have good stock pick-ups. Unless you're a MIA guy like me lol Though MIM isn't too expensive and you get bang for your buck. If you feel wood and metal don't make a difference I'd go with the pickups and just go to youtube and type in the type of pickups you wanna hear to get an idea of their sound though it depends on what they are running them through ,but Squiers aren't really worth all that much so dumping money into them is completely up to you and how much you love it :)

What kind of amp are you currently running? For the cost of a new MIA strat, you may appreciate better having a nice amp with to go with a nice set of pickups in your strat.

I don't have the best amp right now, I was thinking about the Line 6 Spider IV 75 75-watt 1x12, you have a point the combination of the pickups and the amp will definitely be better than a new guitar with a crappy amp.

Thanks for your help.
