Hello, I am thinking of buying an 86 MIJ strat that has a floyd rose fixed bridge. I want to swap it with a regular strat bridge. Is this possible? Will there be any issues? Also it has a locking nut. Can this be removed as well? If I can't make these mods I won't buy it.
thanks

Photos would be helpful, but generally it's far more trouble than it's worth to remove the Floyd components from a guitar and revert back to the original components. The Floyd nut is particularly problematic as a lot of wood is removed from the headstock to install it. Also it would depend on how the bridge was installed - if it was routed heavily under the bridge you would have to fill that in as well.

You say "Floyd Rose Fixed Bridge" - those things were really rare if I'm remembering correctly. I've never seen one in person, only in photos in ads back in the day. Is this that more recent "speedloader" system?

From what I see there's no fixed bridge from Floyd Rose. Ibanez came up recently with the FX Edge series, which included the FX EDGE III-8, based on the Edge III locking trem and specially designed for 8-string guitars such as the RGA8.

I also remember an Ibanez bridge like that being on one of the Satriani models a few years ago - one of the models that only lasted a year or two.

There is a Floyd Rose fixed bridge now; it's one of their "speedloader" models that used a double-ball type string - well actually the ends are more like Fender's Super Bullet ends; the info is at the bottom of this page:

And here's a photo:

They don't show the nut, but it just had slots for the bullet end of the string.
