I believe it's made in America. The first strat was made in Japan and then America. His 2007 updated strat is also made in America.

Both. There is a Japanese model and a USA model. Actually there is more than one YJM model made in Japan. They are all based on various vintage years of production.

Yeah but I'm pretty sure the new ones are American made.

No, they are made both in Japan and the USA. Yngwie is way more popular in Japan than he is in the USA, and there is plenty of demand for them in Japan. Fender Japan makes at least two models currently... The ST71-YJM and the ST68-YJM. They have made many different models in the past.

I second that.

Yngwie is featured in more Japanese guitar mags than anywhere else. He plays there frequently. Many more Japanese guitarists worship him and are inspired by him than here.

If I had spare money under my mattress... I'd pick one up. Used to have an older model and it played great. Had to part with it during hard times a few years back.

I have one USA YJM Strat, but all of my other Strats also have scalloped necks. I LOVE scalloped necks. :)

The scallops themselves really don't enhance your speed, and being fast isn't necessary to benefit from them. The big advantage for me is the grip I get on the strings because of the scallops. It's a control thing...
