I have 2 Corona Strats. Something about them having American parts but assembled in Mexico? Or Vice versa? I know nothing about guitars. I just play...

Neck plate's mean next to nothing. I have one with a half naked girl on it. That must mean it was made at the Mustang ranch in Nevada.

It is intended to mean that it was made in the Fender Corona facility by proud Fender employees. "Remember, if it's on the internet it has to be true."

No, at some point Fender just decided to re-do their neck plates and changed them from the modern "Fender" logo (engraved at an upward angle) to the vintage-style "Fender" logo and they added the "Corona California" lines at that time.

Fender changed to the vintage-style logo on the headstocks in 1995; the change to the neck plate happened toward the end of the 1990s - the "Corona" plates were first used on the America Deluxes when they came out in 1998, but it took until fairly late in 1999 for these plates to be used on the American Standards.

LSnyd - you may be thinking of the California series; they had some things done in Mexico and some things done in California, but they were clearly marked as the California Series.

In relation to a guitar being sold on eBay, it means there is a greater than 78.91% chance that it is not really a Fender.

It is however true for SeX Panther that 60% of the time, it works all of the time.

Exactly as stated -It was made at the Corona factory in California. Just ask the right questions and anyone should have no issue getting a great deal buying used.
