I found this thread most helpful. I do have a question if anyone can answer it. Did fender ever make a Mexican Strat with 22 frets and single coil pickups? Someone is selling what he says is a Mexican Strat but the neck has 22 frets. He sai ther is no serial number visable but it says Mexico on the back of the head.

It's surely a fake and the seller a scammer.

The only Mexican 22-fretters are the Blacktops and VG5s.

I've posted a thread concerning the 22-fret option for the MIM Standard Strat a couple of years ago.

The Mexico factory did a 22-fret Prodigy in the mid-to-late 1980s.

Avoid scams ASAP.

Yeah, I've only seen the MIM Blacktop with 'buckers and 22 frets, all others I've seen have 21.
