Hello Guys.
It's my first post so i'd like to say "hello" to everybody.
As in subject I need help with recognizing Stratocaster body as a Deluxe model.
I've opportunity to buy guitar which is compilation of Fender Standard neck (serial number E 924624) from 1990 (it's correct- I've checked it on fender web site's product dating) and body which is apparently deluxe stratocaster from 2003. Everthing indicates that it can by original- S1 switch in Volume pot, the tremolo bridge, the tremolo back cover- I mean the scheme of holes, and generally makes an immpressions that everthing is OK. Unfortunatelly, I've got problem with accept the part of a connection between body and neck. There is small about 1 mm differences between the neck pocket and neck

Therefore, does someone know the dimensions of neck pocket Stratocaster Deluxe model? Models from 2003? The second problem which cause that I've doubts is that the neck plate

is diffrent from neck plate which I saw in Deluxe from 2003 of my friend.
Guitar was composed by professional luthier.
Despite this fact I'd like to to change the neck of this "mixguitar" and come back to the orginal deluxe neck but I'd like to be 100% sure that 'its orginal body. Probably I will test this guitar on Friday so if You have any tips form I will be thankful.

It's not an American Deluxe body - it's an American Series body. By 2003 American Deluxes had the beveled neck heel (that actually started in late 2002). It looks like a late-2003 American Series HSS Strat (they did have the S-1 switching from approximately August 2003 until the American Series ended at the end of 2007); the American Series also came in that blonde finish on the ash bodies during that time frame.

Are the single coils Vintage Noiseless? It didn't look like they had anything written on them from your photos. Also a 2003 American Deluxe would not have an S-1 switch; that wasn't added to the American Deluxe until 2004.

So that's my best guess - a circa 1989-1990 American Standard neck on a circa late 2003 American Series HSS loaded body; that much time difference could account for the small gap or the parts not going quite together.

John C does the C stand for catalog? Because you seem to know just about everything. (It's a compliment I'm not being smart) xD

Hah!!!

Thanks. I'm a marketing researcher by trade so I just observe and remember a lot. That "observing and remembering" has always been natural for me, and I fell into a line of work where it comes in very handy.

Regarding the neck pocket/neck gap.....I've recently put a 1992 neck on a 2008 body (both US made) and it fitted perfectly. Is it not the case that, pretty much any 'recent' strat neck and body should fit together snugly ?

It should be the case, but there is always hand finishing on the parts. Fender was producing fewer instruments back in the early days of the American Standards (late 1986-1990), it wouldn't be surprising to see a bit more variance than you see today. It's also possible that the body was refinished (although it looks like the blonde finish Fender was using circa 2003-2007) and was therefore sanded or modded. Any way you cut it it does seem like that is a larger gap than you would expect.
