Ever walk into a music store and say, "I'm going to play all of your strats!" Last Saturday I did just that. It was hot out here in Cali so I decided to go get some accessories for my guitars in my local nice air conditioned and very well stocked music store. As I walked through the door I spotted the new USA strats then the MIM's and finally the custom shop models which of course were behind the glass door. It hit me hard and fast, I was going to spend some time there that day. I looked at John the sales guy and said, "fire up that 65 reverb cause I'm ready to kick some tires!" I spent five hours in that store and played every strat he had, some of them twice. At the end of my afternoon adventure I thanked John for his time and patience and bid him farewell. I played many an awesome stratocaster that day.

John wasn't happy. Oh well.

This coming Saturday is TELECASTER DAY! Ha,ha See ya in a few days Johnnie boy.

Oh how I'd love to do that.. Somehow I doubt they'd let me. The closest experience I've had to yours is spending about an hour with three strats, the Clapton sig, the Am standard and a custom shop that had a neck that was between the V and the C.

Perhaps if I went in not looking like skint stoner type musician..

OK - I give up - what is a skint stoner type musician?

I'd loose my mind spending the day in a music store trying to hear myself whilst all the other cats are trying to banging away on one instrument or another.

I'd have way more fun jamming with some guys or jamming with some of my favo tunes.

I will occasionally go to our local GC and head straight for the guitars high on the wall and try some out - although after about 30 minutes of being surrounded by too many loud, out of tune guitars I'm ready to leave.

We used to have a really cool little guitar shop that carried great gear and you could actually hear yourself play...I miss that place...

Keep us posted on Telecaster day!

I'd love to do that someday, I spent about an hour and a half trying out two EH muff pedals last week. They just left me in a little room with a PRS, Laney tube amp, a couple of pedals and let me play away, I enjoyed myself 8)

I used the 65 reverb amp in the custom shop room which is pretty private. As for jamming with other guys, I jammed with the cover band I'm in for three hours the night before. Oh, later that Saturday night I had a nice little rehearsal with these guys I play blues and jazz with. My bases were without a doubt definitely covered last weekend. :D

I liked them all but there were five that stood out and played great for me.

MIM burst strat with rosewood. Excellent playability.
2008 Blizzard pearl strat with maple fret board. Sweeet!
2005 American deluxe V neck in candy apple red. awesome guitar
1966 reissue custom classic which sounded amazing and played fantastic.
62 vintage hotrod strat. I played this guitar through a Marshall JVM 410 and the 65 reverb, this guitar is frigging killer, I almost bought it right there but I want to run through the Tele's first. 8)

I was in a store the other day and coming from one of the sound booths was Stairway to Heaven, played more remarkably badly than you could believe. It really was spectacular.

Raising an eyebrow, I said to the guy behind the counter; "I haven't heard Stairway in a guitar shop for a while". Without a trace of humour on his face he replied quietly; "I have".

And in the instant of those two bleak words the whole horrible misery of that gentleman's working life was suddenly spread before me. So let's all spare a moment's sympathy for the sad existance of guitar shop assistants.

There, stop. That's enough sympathy.
