Can anybody tell me the differences? I might get the deluxe but is it worth it, or should I just get a standard.

Oh yeah, what do you like more?

I bought the Deluxe because I already have a 62' Vintage reissue and liked the idea of the noiseless pick-ups, the S-1 switching system and the locking tuners. They are similar in looks and feel but sound completely different.
If you can try them with a set up similar to yours at the local music store it may help you make up your mind.

Hello 3-Tone

A few more differences

Deluxe tremolo is pop in, standard has screw in.
Deluxe saddles are block, standard has bent steel.
Deluxe has abalone fretboard markers, standard has black or white.
Deluxe has strap locks, standard does not.
Deluxe has old plastic case, standard has fancy new plastic case.
Deluxe has relieved neck area on body, standard does not.

I own both,
both are equally excellent.

Cheers.

One huge difference is the SCN noiseless on the Deluxe. It's not a vintage or classic Strat tone like you might get from several Custom Shop single coils, but noiseless with a smoother modern sound. Several people here like them. If the guitars were free, I'd take the deluxe because I prefer my Highway One with CS Texas Specials to the Standard for a vintage single-coil tone. The Deluxe has a lot of great features and the neck is said to be awesome. I would play the SCNs for a while before making a decision whether to change them out to Custom Shop single coils like Texas Specials (which I love) CS '69s, Fat 50s or one of the many options. The SCNs seem to grow on people.

Thank you very much everyone! Right now I'm leaning on the deluxe.
