Just bought a used HSS, pewter color. The fretboard has some wear as do some of the frets. Any thoughts on smoothing out the wear on the fretboard? I would post pics but cannot figure out how to upload them!

The "Big Apple" Strats from this period are some very nice guitars and you rarely see them for sale anymore.

We need photos to see what you have. Fender only made one USA HSS Strat in 1990 - the Strat Ultra. It doesn't sound like that is what you have - a Strat Ultra has a flame maple veneer on the front and back, roller nut, locking tuners and Lace Sensor pickups.

It's most likely that you have an American Standard that someone modded by adding a humbucker - but again we're all just guessing until you post some photos of your guitar.

To smooth the fret board you have to remove all frets. If frets are worn too, they need to be replaced. $200 job.
