Is there anyone out there who could help me in researching this 1989 American Strat?
Colour: somewhere around Sherwood Green to Blue-Grey.
Finish: metallic/lustre
Neck/Fingerboard: (blonde) maple?
Pick-Ups:Lace Sensor

Thanks to anyone who can input on this :D

You can try emailing consumerrelations@fender.com with the serial number and see what they come up with.

No problem. They can apparently take time, like a couple of days (or more), but people here do get responses from them, so it's definitely a great starting point. I've never had to use them, myself. But I've seen them mentioned many, many times here on the forum.

busterbv - how about posting some pictures of your Strat? It's possible that it could be one of three Fender models depending on the kind of Lace Sensors and the other hardware.

Unfortunately Aussie Rob's suggestion of contacting Fender is likely not going to help you out with this particular gutiar - their database of guitars by serial number only goes back to 1993.

Some things to look for:

Neck plate will say, "Fender" diagonally across it.
"Stunk Stripe" will be walnut
bridge with be a 2 point bridge

Check under the pickguard. It should be a big rectangular area under there, which people call, "the Swimming pool."

Also if it has lace sensor it's mostlikely a Strat Plus and would have locking tuning keys and a "Wilkson nut" (roller barrings where a regular nut would be).

It may also have a "Hipshot" trem setter where strings are located in the back of the guitar. The Strat Plus was always changing so I'm not sure when they started adding the "Hipshot."

The color sounds like gun metal blue, a color that Strat Pluses came in at one time.

If the only upgrade it has are pickups, then I'd say it's an Am. Std. with aftermarket pickup.

I hope this helps

Does your guitars look like this:

If so it could be a Strat Plus or a Strat Plus DX. It would not have string trees and could have a slightly different roller nut. By your color description I was thinking it was the same color as this guitar, which is called Gun Metal Blue. Also check out this site for more info:

Xhefri,

I owned an '87 Strat plus that was stripped to the wood and stained, but had been gunmetal blue w/ rosewood fret board when it was brand new. When people strip guitars they never think to take the paint out of the tren spring cavety. (what is that space called anyway?)

I foolishly sold it, but eventually bought a green '00 EC Strat to replace it.
