I just got my first strat. It's a 2008 American Standard HSS Stratocaster in Sienna burst. The wood is ash and she is beautiful :) Here are some pictures of her. I'm still trying to adjust since I've only ever owned Telecasters. I call her Autumn.

I thought of that ,but I talked to a guy who owns so many strats I can't stress it enough (thats where I got this one) said just leave the humbucker and that if I wanted a SSS just get another strat :) Also I like leaving my stuff stock and the humbucker is good for what I play :D

Nice Guitar !

I could very well be wrong, but that woodgrain doesn't look like Ash to me, in my experience, Ash tends to have a much closer packed grain.

Yours seems more reminiscent of Pine... how heavy is it..??

Not dissn' your axe... just sayin'...

cheers!

Yeah I'm sure I called Fender up asking about it and the person on the phone said it was ash :) It's pretty heavy ,but no unbearable. Also I sent in my serial number and I'll get more detailed info back and post it here :D

Nice one!

By the way it's a 2008-spec American Standard, not a 2007 - you can tell by the bent saddles on the bridge. The first runs of these carried "Z7xxxxxx"/2007 serial numbers since they were introduced at the January 2008 NAMM show and were built before Fender changed over to the 2008 serial numbers (and probably the very first runs were completed during the last couple of months of 2007 and stored in the warehouse so they were ready to ship to dealers).

Oh thank you :D I was going by the info on the serial numbers this site provided and it said 2007. If that last part of you info is the case then wouldn't it still be a guitar that was produced in 2007 ,but was sold in early 2008? Once again thanks for the input I'm waiting to hear back from Fender with the exact details using my serial number :)

Normally it wouldn't matter and you would call the guitar a 2007. However, Fender also typically introduces new and revised models at the January NAMM shows. That was the case in January 2008 when Fender significantly updated this model with a new bridge, revised neck shape, etc. and they returned the name "American Standard" to the model line (those with the previous specs built from July 2000 until late 2007 were called the "American Series").

That's why I called it "2008-spec" since no one outside of the Fender organization had seen these until the show in mid-late January 2008. A true "2007" would have had the previous American Series specs. Also it's possible that if you take it apart you might find an early 2008 date any way since Fender doesn't necessarily throw out the old serial number decals when they come back from the holidays in January; there is always some overlap until they start using the new numbers.

Fender has been doing this for a while; I had a 2004-spec American Deluxe Strat V-neck Strat (a model that no one knew existed until January 2004) that had a 2003 serial number. You'll also see this happening with American Specials (introduced in January 2010 but the first ones have 2009 serial numbers) and the current spec American Deluxes (introduced in March 2010 but the first ones also carry 2009 serial numbers).

EDIT: Ooops - fixed a typo: the American Series started in July 2000, not July 2007

Well the Tell-Tale is weight... if you say it's 'heavy', than it likely is Ash.

It is pretty !

cheers!

Yeah the info on my American Series Tele model was:
INTRODUCED: 6/2000
DISCONTINUED: 1/2008

It's weird they do that ,but I understand what you mean :) Your input is appreciated. I would love to get an American Deluxe Telecaster. That's the only guitar I want more than this one lol
