Hi All.

So this is my 1st forum post, and yes, I am completely new to this entire process.
I have recently purchased a Deluxe Lonestar online without ever having layed my hands on one.

Let me explain.

I'm a South African, and being such, have very little access to Fender products. Although we are not a 3rd world country (contrary to popular belief), access to international brands such as Fender, is limited.
This is mainly due to economical and logistic reasons.

I'm lucky enough to have a family member who travels to the States often enough to collect any instrument I order online, thus curbing major import costs.
Bottom line...I can payed $600 dollars for my Lonestar at full retail price in the States, where it would've cost me +/- $ 1,500 to buy it retail in South Africa.
Yes, we're that screwed.

Anyway, that's why I purchased it without testing it. Most music shops here don't carry the widest variety of inventory, so my purchase was made based on rigorous research. My issue isn't with the guitar, as I'm sure I could work through any and all general criticisms that they seem to draw up. My main query is: Is the Road Worn Hss really worth the price difference? They seem to be basically the same guitar to me, minus minor differences which have no baring on the sound of the guitar. I only ask because I originally considered the road worn based on it's features, but changed my mind when I realized the Lonestar was essentially the same Axe minus a few cosmetic diferences which I didn't like anyway.

Anyone care to share there perspective as to weather or not you think a road worn look is worth $300. Which is a significant amount on my side of the Atlantic.

Hi.

I think you know the answer already.

Yes, you are paying for the cosmetic work done on the Road Worn required to give it that look. For those who appreciate the look and feel it is worth the investment. If the road worn look is not important to you (and I think you've indicated it is not) then I would not spend the money on it.

Hey thanks man. Yeah, I just wanted to confirm my suspicions. Wasn't sure if there was anything I was missing. Then the Lonestar is the one for me.

Good choice. I never "got" the road worn or relic thing. But different strokes for different folks. If people weren't buying them they wouldn't be making them.

Enjoy the Lonestar!
