Well, I have had my Strat for about 3-4 years now. I have barely played it, at all. I put new strings on it, and I plugged it into my amp, and began to play. When I strum, it is amplified, but when I press down on the first fret, it does not amplify for as long. The very bottom string does not amplify at all, and all the other ones will amplify until I press down on the 4th, 5th, 6th frets, and so on.

I took the back plate off, revealing the 3 springs that create tension, and there are 3-4 small spring type things (they look like the things that the ends of batteries touch to power things). They are not connected to anything, and I do not know what they are for. I do not know what is wrong. Please, help me, the best you can. Please and thank you, all.

Hi iSleepWithSirens,

Did you use a different gauge of strings than you originally had? If you didn't have this problem before changing strings, then you likely just need a setup. If you feel that you can do it yourself, check the link below. If not, have a competent guitar tech set it up for you.

When you say you don't get an amplified sound as much when you press down on the fret, you ARE pressing down on the strings Inbetween the frets I take it . like this
