Dear Fender!
I bought my new 2012 American Standard Stratocaster in Sienna Sunburst with maple neck and fretboard. It's serial number is: US12039724. I would like to ask: from what kind of wood what is body made? It is heavier, than the Standard Strat 2010. The case was made in 2011. The guigtar and the sound is beautiful!
Thank You!

Its Alder or ash . Alder in your case because you see the wood with your color.

Hi stratele52: politely, I suspect you meant to type ash...?

It's sometimes (not always) ash beneath sunburst finishes, and I'm pretty certain it has always been ash with Sienna Sunburst - it is on mine! :D

Cheers - C

HI!
Thank You - so it is ash? It's heavier than alder, yes? What about the serial number? What can You say, is it OK? (Was it an Am. standard strat in sienna sunburst with this serial number?)
Waiting Your answer, have a nice day:
Zoltan

The serial number should be okay - that is the current format and "US12" would track to an instrument built in 2012. If you want you can email the serial number to Fender for verification at consumerrelations@fender.com. Sometimes Fender employees like Rob Schwarz (who is the head of their Consumer Relations team) will pop in from time to time with responses but normally you get quick response by emailing.

Yes - much of the time the ash bodied Fenders are slightly heavier than alder bodied Fenders, and the Sienna Sunbursts do have an ash body. Not a rule set in stone; wood can vary in weight so you will find both heavier alder-bodied guitars and lighter ash bodied guitars.
