Anybody got one? How do you like it? I see Fender made a few changes. Wondering how they compare to the ones made in previous years. Here's the link to the Fender site describing them:

I have one, Ash body in sienna burst.
Fantastic guitar, CS fat 50s are a huge improvement on the standard strat pickup used in previous models, think a slightly more rounded, fractionally overwound late 50's pickup; really rich and responsive. plays like a gem, satin neck is gorgeous and smooth, not quite as deep c shape as I prefer but comfortable either way.
If you're in the market for a guitar that will provide a perfect blank canvas to create your sound and story, great place to start.

I have one in candy cola, and it's the best Strat I've ever owned. Even over the Deluxe's.

My wife and kids bought me a 2012 Charcoal Frost/Maple in June. I love it! It is everything I would want in a guitar and the Fat50 pups are sweet!

The Charcoal color in the photos looks like it has a little blue in it, is that true? Looks quite purty to me in the pictures.

I do not have one, but have played one in the store. Very well built guitars with killer tones. In my opinion, no electronic upgrades are needed with them.

My American Standard has Tex-Mex single coils and a Diamondback Humbucker. The new ones feel the same as mine; however, I really love the sound of the Fat 50's in the 2012 model. I love them so much, I bought a set for my Highway 1...all I can say is wow. I am leaving my American Standard's electronics all stock, for the different tones it has. It does have a place in my collection just the way it is.

I also have an American Standard HSS with 2 Tex-Mex and the Dimondback. Can you tell me the differences between the Tex-Mex's and the Fat 50's from the 2012 model? Thanks !

The Fat 50's have more of a bass-y tone and just slightly less mid range tones than the Tex-Mex. Both have the "classic" tones one expects from a Fender guitar. As I mentioned I am leaving my American Standard with the Tex-Mex pups as my Highway 1 now has Fat 50's in it.

I guess the 2012 standard hasn't changed much from the 2008 standar, save for the pickups?

is my reading correct?

That's pretty much correct - the really big change was to the CS pickups. Fender also added a new metallic jade color and I think they might have changed the color of the plastic parts as well.

I'm considering the candy cola red with a rosewood fretboard :)

Yep. In direct light the blue really stands out. Kind of like a light gun metal blue to me.

Had an itching to go to a rosewood neck to contrast my maple-Tele and had never fell in love with my AmDlx2007 with the SCN's. Wanted a more traditional tone. So had been shopping for a 2012 rosewood and had played a few but nothing grabbed me. Was in a city and saw online the local GC had an Olympic white in stock so went buy. Was playing it when I looked over at the wall and there was a 2011 sunburst brand new for $789. Picked it up and it played like a dream, best neck I had tried and actually liked the alinco 5's better than the fat fifties. You just got to keep looking and find the one, whatever it is, that grabs you.
