The nut that secures the output jack on my 2007 American Standard Stratocaster came loose and I did not have a good fitting socket wrench on hand even though I own American, European metric, and Japanese Metric sockets. 1/2" hex socket was the best fit, but was not perfect. These are all good quality tools.

What size is that thing?

Thanks.

Luthier's digital calipers to the rescue! The nut on the jack of my 2005 American Series is .485 thou, or 12.33 mm.

Does that actually help?

Yes, it does help. At least in the sense that it verifies my observations. I assume there must be a special tool fo this. I wonder why it's not metric or U.S.
