Sorry for any rushing with this post, and i know it's my first, but i was about to make a move on a soon-ending buy it now auction and am starting to question it's validity.

(quickly browsed the Code of Conduct and didn't see anything banning ebay links, so...)
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Fender-Classic- ... 3ccc0dd7bf

It's got a 6 point trem? I've never heard of a Classic Player having the 6 point. But, this one's from 2000 and I don't know much about them from 12 years ago.

Also, sonic blue? I can't find any info stating that this was ever an option.

Thanks in advance for any help. Basically, I really dig the CP 50s but i HATE the colors options of sunburst and SHORELINE GOLD (eww!), so i got pretty excited about this one.

EDIT: Also noticed that the neckplate is blank as opposed to the "Custom shop..." stamp I typically see.

It's a real strat, but it's a classic 50's series, and not a classic player.

It's this one

instead of this one

And there's a 2-tone one like that one on ebay on my local CL for $450 so I think that ebay price is high. I've seen them as low as $400. I don't know what used classic players go for.

awesome, thanks man!

that's kinda what I figured...i guess i was thrown off by the "discontinued color - sonic blue" which I assume is just the daphne blue (i can't ever tell the difference between those two anyways). I started thinking maybe it was just super-limited and hard to find info on it.

+1

I snagged a cherry-condition '99 Classic Series '50s Strat in Surf Green about three weeks ago off Ebay for $379. I sold the gig bag it shipped in for $25 on C/L which brought my net cost down to $354.

Figure on $450 as an average reasonable price for this model (used). Add a few bucks if the sale includes a HSC or other upgrades.

HTH

Yep, very helpful actually as I am a notoriously impatient ebayer.

On top of this questionable one, I've been eyeing a CS 50s that's at 399 + 40 shipping, ends in 15 or so hours. However, no tremolo bar and "upgraded" (I say downgraded) pearloid pickguard. I've gotta learn some patience with my GAS. I've just been fed up with my humbuckers since I got a vox and I've ALWAYS wanted a baby (ish) blue strat. Really dig that surf green too though.

Sonic Blue and Daphne Blue are nice colors as well -- perhaps a little less rare than Surf Green. Sit tight until the right guitar comes along.

I got a CS 50s Strat in Surf Green which rocks! Got it new for $400 years ago. Here's some shots:
