Hello i have a mex start that i was changeing the pickups on. I took out the stock ones and put a tex. special in the bridge, and a neck and middle out of a highway one start the alnico 3 a954-1955. the middle and the bridge are working but the neck isnt. i checked all the solder and the look good. nothing that looks obviously wrong. the pickup was working when it was taken out. not sure what could be the problem. was hoping someone would be able to help out. thanks

have you checked the resistance on the pickup with a meter? check the switch for continuity. sometimes things get overheated when unsoldered and resoldered.

Disconnect the neck pickup from the wiring harness and check the coil with a DVM. If it's working correctly you should measure roughly 6.0 Kohms. If it shows as an "open", the coil is damaged and will require repair or replacement.
