Andy, all I can say... and I say this with the greatest respect:

You are One Sick Puppy!

And I think you have much steadier hands than I now possess... :?

so so impressive..and to think Im thrilled when a string change goes smooth as butter..

Thanks!

But you'd be surprised at how painfully long it takes me to re-string a guitar! Kluson tuners still screw me over every now and then. Another good reason to use long life strings and locking tuners!

show off! lol Nice

HA!

Just you wait! At some point the thrill of a satisfyingly smooth string change will wear off and you'll have the pickguard off and the soldering iron out! :D

Oi! I resemble that remark!

Thanks again folks!

@andybighair

Did you tried the Martian pickup set with Clapton active electronics and S1 switch? I think the SSL-3 can scream like hell when the mid boost is cranked up.

I remember now! The S-1 and the super switch are jam packed and the neck pickups ground wire is used for the series combos. This makes it pretty much impossible to get the Neck & Bridge combo I'm sorry to say. That probably why Fender left it as it is.

This is the best I can offer at the moment...

I drew the above diagram up for forum user Baybridge a while back. By adding the red wire next to the smiley face you'll coil split the bridge in position 5 with the S-1 switch off. Any good?

Thanx Andy

I'm will try this, it's a small modification.

I've got the 6 screw version of your Wilkinson Trem on my Classic Series 50s Strat.

It's superb. I have an aged pickup selector switch tip and pickups covers on order too.......

Good on ya mate, good on ya! I have not been on the Forum much the last few months do to travel. Miss it. And these types of threads are always the best. Nice clean work Andy! What does the mini-switch do? All your pickups standard winding and no RW? Splendid job!

Matching guitar and necklace. Style. And it looks like Steve Gadd is going for the pale blue look with his hair, too...

Howdy!

Sorry for the Late reply but Andy-land has been an "interesting" place recently... and not in a good way.

I'm sure you will all sympathise with me on the following: Turns out I may well have a prolapsed L5/S1 disc in by back that's now pinching the sciatic nerve that runs down my left leg. The pain in the mornings is pretty bad and walking hurts... alot. :(

I had an MRI scan on Friday and should get the results on Monday, so we'll see how bad things really are. I'm hoping a bit of Physiotherapy will sort it out (not too keen on the thought of spinal injections or surgery).

On top of munching my spine I also managed burn my thrumb, index and middle fingers on my left hand...

Image

...which made playing my Strat hurt... alot. Still fingers have healed now and I'm back to Rocking out, which makes having a bad back slightly more bearable.

Anyhoo... Moaning over, I'll get back on topic! :D

Howdy X Man!

Yep, all the pups are wound the same way and the mini switch turns the bridge pickup on & off. I hope you had fun on your travels!

Nah, I've gone right off the Clapton mid boost. I reckon the SSL-3 would sound like mud through one. Its got plenty of mids on it own!

Cool beans!

I too have that version kicking around n my spares box. It used to be on my other parts-caster before it got dismantled for yet another attempt at a spray job.

Wilkinson make fecking awesome trems!

Thanks man!

Glad you enjoyed those. I really should get my finger out (not a burnt one) and put some new tracks up at some point soon!

Randel the Cat says a Big Hairy thanks for the Dreamies! :D

He's not a great fan of the packaging though...

Seemed quite determined to make his own way into the bag. You gotta love Cat's. So fiercely independent! :D

Thanks again everybody for the posts and I hope you have a seriously KICKASS weekend! 8)

Cheers!
