I like the MIM standard pickups in my dad's 91' standard better than the vintage noisless in my deluxe players, but I think the texas specials are better than both.

I have a 1996 MIM HSS Strat and I like the stock pick-ups. It has a nice variety of sounds. I also have other Strats that I have swapped out the stocks for EMGs. I prefer a nice clean sound from my pick-ups. If I want distortion, I prefer to add it with my vintage MXR Distortion + or Vox Stereo Fuzz-Wah. The thing to remember is, you can always add some crunch to a clean sound, but you can't take it away from a too-hot pick-up. That is what I like, but your results may vary(And so may your mileage!!)
