Im getting ready to buy a new strat and want a 57' or 62' American Vintage one but im not to sure on the differences .Which one is more versatile? if you could help me out that would be great. also, what is the difference between a maple and rosewood fretboard? I also like thick necks. Which one can have the great sound a strat has clean but also be able to get a Eric Clapton with Cream style distortion? (or just nice distortion)

thanks

please respond.......... :D

P.S. im a rock and punk type guitarists if that helps

Your best bet is to try them yourself. No one can feel with your hands or hear with your ears. Besides it's fun to try them out.

50s strats will have a beefier neck and a tad lower output pickups as well as a all maple neck.

The 60's will have slightly more output pickups, rosewood board, and slimmer neck.

The maple necks tend to sound more snappy and the roseword will have a slightly more beefy sound.

Hello The Clash101,

If you like a meaty neck check out the
'62 hot rod.

I realize thats beyond your 2 choices but
worth checking out.

Cheers.
