Just decided to take the back trem cover off the back of my '02 American Strat and noticed it has some markings written on the body (underneath the springs). I'd forgotten they were there, as the cover's been left on most of the time.

Anybody know what these markings mean? It's simply the number 12 written in black magic marker.

I'm the original owner - bought new in 2002 so I'm pretty sure the music store didn't pull the cover and springs off to write a "12" in the body.

I suppose it would only mean something to the person that put it there... more than likely an inspection mark.

I have a S/N SE2xxxxx blackie clapton series, and there there is a number 46. I know it`s a old post but is there a meanning or just fabrication purpose.
