Hello mates,

I've got a question, I own a Fender American Deluxe HSS strat with SCN pickups, but I do not really dig the sound of them. I really want to get that mayer tone, what pickups will do this trick?
Setup:

Strat
Fender Blues Deluxe
Ibanez TS
Wah

What kind of pickups should I be looking for? custom shop 54?

Just look up the specs on the pickups on this website and then shop them out.

Change the pups, match the strings,, then find all the effects and amps they used and you might get close to someone else's sound.

The sound is also greatly affected by playing technique.

Thread on Mayers pedals and has some of the amps he used.

IMHO: Best to avoid trying to match others and work on coming up with your own sound.

Might sound silly by why spend a large amount of cash on an American Deluxe HSS when you don't like the way it sounds ?

I'm not looking for copying like every tone they make, but pickups that they use or come close to what they use would be very nice.
I'm in love with the American Deluxe Strat, it sounds nice but I've heard other pickups that sound even better to my ears, I'm keeping the SCN pups though, for my yahama strat.
