So many to choose from!

I'd probably go with Buddy Guy and for slide, Ry Cooder.

You certainly dug deep in the archives to get this topic.I could never pick a single blues player as "best" as there were so many that contributed to the form. The likes of Robert Johnson,T Bone Walker,Muddy Waters,Albert King, Albert Collins etc. the list is endless.Robert Johnson and Leadbelly were at the forefront of 20th century blues but others came along who also had a great impact on the genre so there really can't be just one best.

Way too many to name. Johnny Winter, Muddy Waters, Son House, Bukka White, David "Honeyboy" Edwards. Robert Johnson was already mentioned but not Tampa Red, Blind Willie MeTell and Lightnin Hopkins. Newer guys, Hendrix, SRV, Clapton were already mentioned.

The only one to mention Johnny Winter... I think a lot of us need to go out on youtube and listen to some of his playing...

By far the best slide player to ever live...

BB King isn't the most technical player... But one of most favorite to listen to ... Very good at phrasing his solos.. Sometimes less is more... And emphasizing certain licks can be better than just doing insanely fast runs..

Well Buddy Guy (I'm a bit bias to him as I've met him)

Joe Louis Walker is a more recent find for me

And Then Stevie Ray Vaughan, Clapton, etc.

I agree with all listed so far most of them are among my favourites, but 5 pages in and, unless I missed it, no mention of

Peter Green.

Oh, and Ronnie Earl and Duke Robillard aren't too bad, even on a bad night

Cheers,

Snowy

JL Hooker. Raw, unique, an original, the most mojo of all. Not a technician but oh so bad .... Like Jessie James.
