Is there any objective reason to be in favour of either maple or rosewood fretboard?

the same objective reason to be in favour of single coil or humbuckers. they sound different. they feel different. its all personal preference.

Personal taste.

I prefer Rosewood. The Maple sounds much brighter to me.

I bought one of each. The rosewood is warmer and not as bright sounding. I don't have a heavy touch on the frets so I don't notice a difference when I play as far as feel goes.
