Silly me. I assumed that you posted a pic of the guitar to which the OP linked.

The OP guitar does look real, but I would still want to see more of it.

[quote="bluesky636"]Is it real or is it Memorex?

Maybe she's born with it. Or maybe its Maybelline.

Same here, but that is probably never going to happen.

I have a buddy who is a luthier, who also collects old Gibson and Fender guitars. I strolled into his shop one day to shoot the breeze and he excitedly told me he had something he wanted me to see. He put this old beat Fender case up on the counter and opened it up and asked, "Well, what do you think of this?" It was a 1957 Strat.

I picked it up carefully and looked it over closely. Worn neck, finger groves on the maple board, crazing in the finish, yellowed pickup covers, rust on the bridge and neck plate (which had a serial number on it.) I was like WOW. Put it back in the case.

My friend then started laughing. He told me it was a 1988 Made in Japan 57 Strat reissue that a guy he knows relic-ed. I felt like a fool because it really did look original. So one can't really tell anything unless you pop it open and check out the wiring, solder joints, pots, route and penciled markings on the neck.

"Goes to show, you don't ever know, watch each card you play and play it slow. Don't ya let that deal go down, no no…." Name that tune!

+1

"Beauty shots" of a guitar are meaningless.

Can't be entirely sure from the fuzzy picture (why are they always fuzzy?), but it looks as if the trem claw earth is soldered to a tab in the centre of the claw. If it is, that's not original - the claws were flat plates then I think.

Like Xhefri said, without seeing the inside, who knows?

No guts, no glory. :P
