That's why I like cheap, crappy guitars so much. No one bothers to fake them.

You'd be surprised, I've seen fake Squiers before.

Kinda like counterfeiting a one dollar bill.

Run it buy the folks at Fender. You'll get your answer there.

"Content currently unavailable"

Try this:

1. Go to the image.
2. Right click.
3. Click "Save Image" or "Save Image As..." etc. Depends on your browser!

4. Click "Save" at the bottom right of the dialog box that opens. Make sure you remember where it saved (most likely My Pictures, if you're using a Windows computer. If using a Mac, just save it on your desktop or something!)

5. Go to www.imgur.com
6. At the right where it says "Upload images", click on the "Computer" button right beneath it.

7. Select the image(s) that you previously saved in step 4.
8. You'll see a little window pop open (should be black). Click on the check box at the bottom right where you see the image, and then click "Start Upload" right above it.

9. Once it has uploaded, a new window will appear, click "Save" at the top of this window. If you've uploaded more than 1 photo, you'll have to do this step twice.

10. After clicking save, you'll be redirected to a page which has your image on it. Click on the image. This will direct you to a NEW page. Copy and paste the URL in your browser bar, and come back to these forums.

11. In a new post, click the "img" button that is beside the bold, italics, underline, quote, code, list, list=, BBcode and URL buttons.

12. Paste this URL in between the two [img] tags.

13. Submit the post, and you're done.

Cheers!
Nick :)

Looks like the real thing to me...and I had a 62 original. Seems you have had one fun chance to play a real nice piece of history...one of Leos originals.

Proves nothing.

Need DETAILED, IN FOCUS, photos of the guitar, neck, headstock, underneath the pickguard, underside of pickups, pots, etc. Just "an image of the guitar" is worthless.

have since found out that there is a bit more history to this particular guitar. I'm lead to believe that, a previous owner was a bespectacled Texan from Lubbock. One of 4 he had.
It could be just a story. Even if it is not..it's still a old strat.
You are right in that more detail would help. However, I don't think the current owner would have appreciated me having a strum then pulling it apart just to check.
I think we all agree that Leo build some very cool stuff over his lifetime and this looks like one of them.

Well, given that three of Buddy Holly's first four sunburst Strats were stolen and the fourth is in the Buddy Holly Center in Lubbock, maybe the owner had a good reason to not let you look any closer.

Strat #5 appears to be undocumented.

Being the skeptic that I am, I note the wrong string tree for a '54, and unless I'm mistaken, I see the selector switch is in position 2, which also didn't exist then. Both tree and switch could have been changed at some point, but I would have to see much more of this guitar to be convinced that it is as claimed.

You talkin' about the guitar I posted?

Its "Memorex".

It's because of the availability of guitars like this that I question the authenticity of the guitar the OP played.
