Fender isn't to keen in making a lot of nitro-finished guitars, you've got the relicted "road worns", or the expensive "vintage" ones.
I really want as less as possible lacquer on my strat, and I know that polyester is a really thick "plastic" layer, but where can we situate the urethane-finish? Is it like the poly-finish?

A clue for you......

Your pickups or your amp don't give a damn what kinda paint is on your guitar.

Your preference for nitro is based on asthetics only.

paint and thickness of the paint has a lot of influence on the sound! Just like the wood of the body or the fretboard! Just try to swap some pickups between, let's say an American Standard and a road worn, you would be surprised.

Type and thickness of Finish may have an effect on an accoustic instrument (debated by many), but not on a solid body electric.

cheers!
