American Special sustain tone 1-2 string

Hi,
I need information. this is my first time i have a fender guitar, my process now to get familiar tone sound of it. my american special is has no sustainable tone for 1st and 2nd string.. or maybe it's only my "hearing" matter. Does american special tone is the way it is? Can you help me..?

You buy it new or used ? Wich model ?

Probably just need a set up.

I buy it new, man.. The model is american specias stratocaster 2 sunburst, the pickup is texas special. I hve already set it up the pick up, try o get it closer to string, but stiil i get same.

You need to do a good setup. This is a good place to start:

Adjusting any pickup too close to the strings, especially a Texas Special, will kill sustain due to the pull of the magnets on the strings.
