I'm in the process of selling my Deluxe U.S. Strat and looking for something new. I am actually looking to downgrade a little bit and spend somewhere in the area of $600-750. As of right now, the Jimmie Vaughan Strat is on the top of my list because I love the V-neck. What else should I be looking at?

When buying Strats, I've found that 100% of the time, the one I go into the store prepared to buy is never the one I come out with. Your best bet is to go into a store which has many Strats and many different model Strats. Play as many as you can and take it from there. You may be surprised with what you come out with. Enjoy!

Hello Arice727,

Take a look at the Highway one guitars.
I feel it's a nice product and priced well.

Cheers.

Amen, ya gotta play it first. THATS why I would never buy a guitar from a catalog or from Ebay. It's like a Woman, in that ya have to hold em and caress them and make sure ya like her before ya commit to her....LOL!!!! And ya gotta play the field, try several of them and you might be suprised at what you like....good luck, let us know how it turns out!!!

I'm going to order the JV in candy red from an independent dealer I've worked with for years and trust. If I don't like it I can send it back and he'll order another one for me... same deal with CG or MF or any of the big box stores... you really can't go wrong!

I'm such a fussbudget that I need to spend a good day or two with the guitar setting it up and trying out different things before I can make a decision... I really can't do that in the shop.

As I always say, it all depends on what you play. For blues, the maple necked Fender 50s Style Strat is my favourite. You could probably pick one up for $700-$900. Good luck and I hope you find what you're looking for.
