Just as the title suggests i am looking for info on these guitars, i've seen one advertised at a pretty reasonable price (£150 so far) on ebay and its only about an hour away from me.
I know these have the toneboost circuit in them which boosts to +12db i've heard with a tweek you can get this to +25db.

Anyone with any info on these please feel free to chime in, are they a good guitar? Whats a fair second hand price on them?

I used to have one of these in Graffiti Yellow. I loved this guitar. I ended up selling it to pay rent. That was almost 10 years ago.

I think the graffiti yellow was a special run for guitar center.

I have been trying to relocate one of these in yellow for the longest time, and it seems there just weren't many of them made, as I have only seen reference to one other one, and it wasn't for sale...

Anyways, mine was a fabulous guitar, and I have regretted parting with it more and more ever since.

It did have the active mid boost, and some nice pickups that where noiseless if I recall correctly. I might be wrong on that, just my recollection.

The pickups are not "noiseless" per se.

A dummy coil, concealed within the body rout that houses the pre-amp module, is used to null out the hum inherent in all single-coil pickups. The Powerhouse's pickups are standard alnico V's, similar to what's used in the old AmStd Strats. The pre-amp provides a 12 dB boost to the overall signal, making the guitar essentially a "poor man's Eric Clapton model".

I own a 2006 edition, in Caramel Metallic with rosewood furniture.

No problem.

Add a steel trem block to the bridge and it's a great working man's guitar.

That's a beautiful colour looks awesome. I updated the trem on my squier CV it makes a big difference, definitely a future job, is the standard block one of the narrower ones?

The stock bridge is a full-size MIM vintage-spec type (2-7/32" string spacing) with a full-size zinc alloy block. I replaced my entire bridge with a MIA vintage type, with the cold-rolled steel block. It made a significant difference in both tone and sustain. Definitely worth the hundred bucks it cost. I also replaced the MOP pickguard with a less ostentatious white 3-ply AmStd part.

The boost is reduced to 12dB via a pair of resistors. You'll obtain the full 25dB if you clip them.

The Powerhouse features a "no-load" pot instead of the TBX.

This model served as an inspiration for the USA Buddy Guy Strat. Buddy's signature model used 25dB midrange boost/TBX tone shaping circuits and three Gold Lace Sensors (early Clapton config).

Though the BG Strat first went into production in 1995, the Powerhouse didn't came into the scene until 1998/99.

The Powerhouse has been discontinued in 2007 and the USA Buddy Guy in 2010.

Only the MIM Polka Dot Strat survived from the BG signature series, though Buddy's own guitar came initially with Lace Sensors and active electronics until it was refitted with a pair of humbuckers.
