You going to have to give us more info than that. Does it have 22 frets? If so, it sounds like an American Special. Color, Tremalo (six screw or two point type), would go a long way in helping us to help you.

The Z9 serial number would put the guitar as a 2009/2010 U.S. made guitar.

Either post some pics or send as much info as possible to consumerrelations@fender.com

Like T2 says photos would be helpful. I can say that if it has a large headstock then it would not be an American Standard; it could be a Highway 1 or a very early American Special. American Specials they were introduced at the January 2010 trade show but the first were built in late 2009 so they would be ready to ship; these first ones have the "Z9" serial numbers.

If it's an American Special, it normally should have Texas Specials. HWY1s use AlNiCO IIIs.

Create a free account on an image hosting website (Photobucket, ImageShack, Flickr). Then upload your photos into your account, grab the IMG code to the cliboard and paste it. Good luck!

It is most likely an American Special assuming it has a maple fingerboard. It could also be a Highway 1 as they also came in sunburst. If it has a glossy finished body and a 2-color sunburst then it is an American Special. If it has a matte finish body and a 3-color sunburst then it is a Highway 1. If it has a rosewood fingerboard and 3 single coils it has to be a Highway 1 as the 3 single coil American Specials only come with maple fingerboards (that is unless it has been modified somewhere down the line).
